microSelectron® Digital (HDR-V3) afterloader receives Shonin approval
February 13 2012 | Press Release
The scalable and upgradable platform with 6, 18 or 30 channels suits the needs of many brachytherapy patients and healthcare professionals
Tokyo, February 15, 2012
Nucletron, an Elekta company, the world's leading manufacturer of Brachytherapy solutions, announced today that the Japanese Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare (MHLW) granted Shonin approval to market the microSelectron® Digital (HDR-V3) afterloader in Japan.
Designed for precise & targeted treatment of cancer, the microSelectron® Digital (HDR-V3) offers proven reliability in afterloading and has by far the largest installed base in the world. The scalable and upgradable platform with 6, 18 or 30 channels suits the needs of many brachytherapy patients and healthcare professionals.
Nucletron Brachytherapy Solutions tackle cancer “from the inside out” - the source of radiation is placed directly inside or next to the tumor. This precise and accurate form of radiation has proven to be a highly effective treatment option while reducing the risk of unnecessary damage to healthy tissue and organs, and thus reducing potential side effects for patients. This makes brachytherapy a complementary and valuable adjunct to any radiotherapy program.
Our key technological advances have resulted in an integrated package of treatment planning and delivery systems, and continue to drive efficiency, efficacy, quality and safety in brachytherapy solutions. With close to 35 years of experience, we believe that our solutions, services and extensive knowledge of precisely targeted radiotherapy can play a vital role in treating cancer successfully.
Nucletron was acquired by Elekta in September 2011.
