Veenendaal, The Netherlands – Nucletron recently provided to the radiation community with an advance preview of Nucletron’s new IMRT planning system called Oncentra™ Optimizer at the AAPM meeting in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, US. Oncentra Optimizer is the IMRT module within the Oncentra family of software solutions from Nucletron. The new IMRT system provides interactive plan optimization with unprecedented speed.

The introduction of Oncentra Optimizer, scheduled for release in the first quarter of 2005, will dramatically change the way IMRT plans are created. “ IMRT planning will become a truly interactive process” states Tim Bateman, Business Segment Manager of treatment planning in Nucletron. “Until now treatment accuracy was obtained at the cost of time. Optimizer provides exceptional plan optimization with multiple constraints in minutes as opposed to hours. The system will significantly free up physicist time so that they can perform other tasks.”

Customers’ reactions have been overwhelmingly positive indicating that this IMRT solution will dramatically change the way treatment plans are optimized. The benefit for patient care is more precise plans in less time.

Oncentra Optimizer is a direct product of a joint collaboration with RaySearch Laboratories of Stockholm, Sweden. RaySearch specializes in the development of IMRT systems.
