Veenendaal, The Netherlands – Det Norske Radiumhospitalet (DNR) of Norway, one of Europe’s largest radiotherapy centers, has decided to intensify its partnership with Nucletron through expanding the suite of Oncentra oncology software solutions for use throughout the whole hospital. It is important for DNR to have a flexible software solution in order to integrate their current equipment, and to leverage an industry standard system capable of integrating future systems. Oncentra is the appropriate solution due to its modularity and openness. With an increase of 3000 new patients in 2003, DNR is now treating approximately 5200 patients per year. With this rapid expansion, it becomes essential to move towards an automated environment and promote system integration that will improve patient care. “We want to have the freedom to purchase the best equipment available on the market and still have an integrated environment. Therefore the choice is to partner with Nucletron and use Oncentra as the software solution for DNR” states Tor Green, Manager Medical Engineering of DNR. The cooperation involves expanding the existing Oncentra Information System (OIM), Oncentra Treatment Planning (OTP) and Oncentra Record and Verify (VISIR) systems supplied by Nucletron. The agreement also includes the upgrade of the existing Nucletron simulator into flat panel technology. Furthermore, Nucletron will also deliver a dedicated OTP system with 25 clients for education purposes at the hospital. DNR was founded in 1932 and has been a long time user of the Oncentra suite with Helax TMS/OTP, VISIR and OIM. They were one of the hospitals originally involved in the development of VISIR as the first accelerator-independent verification system. In addition, since the early nineties DNR has been using Helax TMS, the treatment planning system of Oncentra before OTP. About Nucletron B.V.
