Veenendaal, The Netherlands,–  Oncentra MasterPlan delivers location-independent radiation therapy treatment planning, Lund University Hospital focuses highly specialized knowledge where it counts.

Oncology clinics in Sweden are using the latest release of Oncentra MasterPlan to review and confer with colleagues in six facilities located throughout Sweden. The bi-monthly conferences will review paediatric radiation therapy treatment plans. Paediatric Radiation Therapy is relatively uncommon and requires specialized skills. This initiative allows clinicians to gain experience and maintain high levels of competence by participating in the virtual conferences on a regular basis.

“Oncentra MasterPlan is developed on a very advanced technical architecture that assists clinicians in taking the full advantage of a modern planning system” states Paul van den Biggelaar, Director of Oncentra. “It is quite literally the most innovative planning system available and clinicians are learning of new ways to use MasterPlan to dramatically improve patient care.”

“The system has been extremely beneficial for allowing new employees to gain knowledge and existing staff to gather more experience” says Ingrid Kristensen, Lund University Hospital. “Previously, meetings were scheduled twice per year, and now we are planning to meet twice per month.”

The Plan Analysis tool within MasterPlan allows clinics to simultaneously review treatment plans amongst several users, quickly and easily. It is a powerful benefit that users located in different geographic locations can access the radiation therapy treatment plans in a distributed network. This enables specialized skills to be concentrated independent of location, enabling workflow integration at the most important point of knowledge sharing and decision making. Modifications can be made to target volumes and beams from remote locations. An inherently flexible licensing structure ensures optimal use of the planning workstations

Oncentra MasterPlan is available in all countries worldwide, and is comprehensively supported through Nucletron’s extensive service organization.
