Global marketing collaboration offers innovative imaging functionality that complements Nucletron Oncentra

Veenendaal, the Netherlands (September 13, 2010) – Nucletron, a leading provider of state of the art radiotherapy solutions for cancer treatment, today announced a partnership with Velocity Medical Solutions to distribute Velocity Advanced Imaging (VelocityAI) products worldwide. VelocityAI, is a proven technology that complements the Nucletron Oncentra platform for advanced visualization, automated multi-modality image registration and quantitative imaging information all at the fingertips of physicians via an intuitive and simple to use interface. Over 70 cancer centers worldwide currently use Velocity software to provide their patients more accurate targeting of oncologic tumors, monitoring patient response to treatment, and optimized outcomes.

VelocityAI provides a unique viewing and clinical decision-making platform that seamlessly incorporates the massive amount of diagnostic imaging and treatment information in the clinical environment allowing physicians to evaluate imaging data anywhere and at anytime. Clinicians have the ability to perform or review image registration and tumor contouring outside of department for maximum flexibility and the ability to rapidly fuse diagnostic imaging modalities to planning images ensuring the best match for anatomical and biologic modeling. In cases where rigid registration does not provide an optimal match, such as soft tissue areas of interest, enhanced image registration using VelocityAl’s deformable methods may be used for many of the modalities. VelocityAI also provides innovative atlas segmentation to assist in delineating anatomical structures of interest in seconds. For treatment response assessment, VelocityAI uses the automated image registration technology for assessing the changes during and after therapy between imaging studies, including cone-beam CT (CBCT) and molecular imaging. The ability to view, analyze and quickly process diagnostic imaging and RT information sets VelocityAl’s software apart from conventional image viewers.

”We are pleased to partner with Velocity Medical Solutions and offer radiation oncology centers around the world exciting new technology that can be easily integrated into their department,” said Jos Lamers, chief executive officer at Nucletron. “The powerful feature set allows clinicians to dramatically speed their workflow and improve patient outcomes.”

“The VelocityAI platform was designed by radiation oncology professionals specifically for the unique needs of the radiation oncology work environment,” said Richard diMonda, president of Velocity Medical Solutions. “Collaborating with Nucletron allows us to bring our product to a much larger global radiation therapy market and provide clinicians with highly sophisticated features that solve many of their workflow issues.”
