Nucletron India Training Academy provides professional knowledge of precision cancer treatment  

Chennai, India (28 October 2010) Nucletron, a leading provider of state of the art radiotherapy solutions for cancer treatment will be opening the Nucletron India Training Academy (NITA) on November 16th. Funded by Nucletron and the Dutch government, NITA will provide professional training to Radiation Oncologists and Medical Physicists in the region. These new opportunities for education and enhancing expertise in the latest technology for radiation oncology treatment are expected to result in improved care for cancer patients.

NITA will provide an extensive tailored training around Nucletron’s solutions for both brachytherapy and external beam radiotherapy. The training will be specifically targeted to upgrade and update the skills of Radiation Oncologists and Medical Physicists in the use and application of treatment planning systems and brachytherapy remote afterloaders. The course curriculum is carefully designed to enhance the knowledge and develop confidence in using the various Nucletron products and solutions. The trainings will be conducted by highly experienced experts who have spent years in understanding the current clinical needs of the radiation oncology space.

1) Clinical Brachytherapy for Radiation Oncologists.
2) Brachytherapy Planning techniques for Medical Physicists.
3) Contouring and Plan Evaluation processes for Radiation Oncologists
4) External Beam Planning methods for Medical Physicists:
    - 3D Conformal Radiotherapy
    - IMRT
5) Basics of Treatment Planning for the students of Medical Physics.
6) Refresher Course on Oncentra for Medical Physicists:
    - External beam planning
    - Brachytherapy planning
