Nucletron’s Oncentra™ MasterPlan participating in informal connectathon for IHE-RO.

Oncentra is a Trade Mark of Nucletron B.V.

Nucletron’s Oncentra MasterPlan is one of the systems that participated in an informal connectathon (an international multivendor DICOM interconnectivity test), which was organized by the Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise - Radiation Oncology (IHE-RO), September 25 - 29 2006 at ASTRO headquarters in Fairfax, Virginia, USA.

The current IHE-RO profile, which is the first of a series of more extended profiles that will be specified and demonstrated in subsequent years, is a 3D conformal external beam workflow, including contouring, plan definition, dose calculation and dose review.
Nucletron has committed itself to the IHE-RO initiative, and is actively participating in the development of the IHE-RO profiles, and the implementation of conformance to the IHE-RO profiles in Oncentra MasterPlan.

The Oncentra MasterPlan software architecture is constructed on the DICOM-RT data model; a very solid foundation that allows for connectivity and data exchange to and from other systems resulting in a ‘natural’ flow. As a result, clinics that use Oncentra MasterPlan for treatment planning can easily connect to the best solutions for imaging and treatment delivery, without compromising on workflow flexibility.

The Oncentra MasterPlan platform provides software solutions for easy and intuitive information management and data-intensive radiotherapy processes in multimodality and comparative planning. At the same time, Oncentra MasterPlan can also serve as a research platform that enables clinicians and researches to develop breakthrough techniques for radiotherapy cancer treatments.
Detailed information about IHE in general can be reviewed at www.ihe.net

At their booth during ASTRO 2006 in Philadelphia, IHE will give a presentation on their general activities as well as on current and imminent initiatives and developments in Radiation Oncology. Also, they will present a listing of all companies that have participated in the ‘connectathon’.
