Dutch radiotherapy center Dr. Bernard Verbeeten Institute uses Oncentra® Visir for their new advanced radiotherapy equipment
September 7 2007
The Dr. Bernard Verbeeten Institute, a major Dutch radiotherapy institute located in Tilburg, will continue to use Oncentra Visir as their record and verify system. “Its flexibility in our mixed-vendor environment perfectly suits our needs for the near future,” says Willy de Kruijf, Medical Physicist at the Dr. Bernard Verbeeten Institute.
The institute is aiming to set up two satellites, offering state-of-the-art treatments to the 1.2 million inhabitants of the Noord-Brabant region. The new configuration, consisting of 5 new Varian linear accelerators and 3 existing Siemens Oncor linear accelerators, will connect Tilburg and the 2 new satellite centers in the nearby cities of ‘s-Hertogenbosch and Breda. This summer the Dr. Bernard Verbeeten Institute announced the order of 5 new Varian linear accelerators. The first one, a Varian Trilogy® equipped with an On-Board Imager®, will be installed at the end of this year in Tilburg. An important new feature, which will be included in the upcoming release 3.0 of Oncentra Visir, is the DCI interface (Device Centric Interface) which facilitates image-guided treatments using DICOM-RT communication with the Varian4D Treatment Console.
Oncentra Visir is part of the Oncentra® software solutions Nucletron provides to radiotherapy clinics. The key benefits of Oncentra Visir are: reduction of total cost of ownership by using one single record and verify system for all linear accelerators from all vendors, increased patient safety due to use of the local language in the user interface, and world class support through local Nucletron branch offices having excellent knowledge of the country and regional specific clinical challenges.
