Combined Solutions in Radiation Oncology
August 17 1998
Nucletron BV (Veenendaal, The Netherlands) and ELEKTA Oncology Systems (Crawley, UK) announced a global agreement. Under this agreement, Nucletron will design and manufacture a modified version of the Simulix-HP system for ELEKTA, enabling ELEKTA to leverage its position in the market by broadening its Simulator product line.
The agreement also affords ELEKTA access to Nucletron’s market leading remote afterloading system, the microSelectron HDR, and PLATO 3D brachytherapy planning system in combination with sales of ELEKTA’s advanced digital linear accelerator. "This agreement gives us added recognition of our industry-standard Simulix and microSelectron product lines. The fact that ELEKTA has selected us to manufacture their latest simulator and provide for their customers’ brachytherapy needs is a significant endorsement of our products," said Edwin Vandermeulen, Managing Director of Nucletron B.V. "ELEKTA continues to strengthen the choice of high quality products and services which we can offer to radiation therapy professionals.
The agreement to work with Nucletron in Brachytherapy and Simulator products fits well and complements the major investment ELEKTA is already making in new product lines," said Volker Stieber, President and C.E.O. of ELEKTA Oncology Systems. Nucletron is internationally recognized for developing and marketing some of the world’s most innovative cancer treatment systems. As a leading supplier of equipment and services for radiation therapy, Nucletron offers a full range of market leading products including the Simulix-HP simulator, PLATO 3D treatment planning systems and Veriflex information systems. Nucletron also manufactures the world’s leading high dose rate remote afterloading system, the microSelectron-HDR, used to treat prostate and other forms of cancer.
ELEKTA is a leading international supplier of advanced medical systems for minimally invasive neurosurgery and precision radiotherapy. ELEKTA products for advanced treatment delivery, 3D treatment planning, imaging and integrated networking solutions include the SLi linear accelerator, MLCi integrated multi leaf collimator, SLS Simulator, iView portal imaging system, Renderplan 3D treatment planning system and the Leksell Stereotactic System. The two companies will continue to offer their respective product ranges through their existing sales and service offices.
ELEKTA will continue to provide installation, training, warranty and after-sales support for all simulators sold through ELEKTA, including products manufactured by Nucletron.
