On 1st July 2007, Nucletron B.V. released version 3.0 of Oncentra MasterPlan, representing a significant advance in the capabilities of this distributed treatment planning system.

Oncentra MasterPlan 3.0 has new features that will allow users to adapt and streamline their daily work in the radiotherapy clinic. With the new version, Oncentra MasterPlan will become the first treatment planning system on the market to facilitate the import of DICOM RT doses from other DICOM-compliant systems, thereby simplifying the evaluation and comparison of plans.

“The Plan Analysis module will clearly assist physicists and clinicians in their efforts to evaluate plans in a multimodality environment, so they can choose the best treatment,” explains Paul van den Biggelaar, Business Director of Oncentra Software at Nucletron.

This new release also allows TMS-Helax users to more easily migrate their patient data and treatment plans into MasterPlan via a DICOM archive. As Michael Arevärn, Head Radiologist at the Umeå hospital in Sweden, puts it: “This migration tool will enable us to seamlessly migrate from one platform to another and preserve historical patient data on the new MasterPlan system. It gives such confidence to my colleagues and myself that Nucletron is demonstrating a long-term commitment to being a reliable commercial partner in radiotherapy.”

Oncentra MasterPlan is a PC-based Microsoft Windows™ system for Image Registration and Fusion, 3D Contouring, and Dose Calculation for teletherapy and IMRT planning. Further updates still in development include advanced planning for HDR & PDR Brachytherapy treatment, and Proton Planning.
