The Comfortable Brachytherapy Catheter System for Accelerated Partial Breast Irradiation (APBI)

The OncoSmart Catheter System represents a major advance in HDR and PDR interstitial breast brachytherapy cancer treatment, offering a safe, convenient and reproducible method to perform APBI, or deliver the boost dose after whole-breast irradiation. The OncoSmart Catheter System offers maximum flexibility of radiation delivery, combining breast cancer patient comfort with ease of use in the clinic.

Comfort for Breast Cancer Patients
Next to optimal comfort and freedom of movement, the OncoSmart Catheter System provides the breast cancer patient and the option of being treated with brachytherapy on an outpatient basis. The total treatment time is reduced significantly with APBI. In between breast brachytherapy fractions the ProGuide Needles are removed, leaving only a set of lightweight flexible catheters inside the breast and smooth, low profile buttons on the breast surface. This allows the breast cancer patient to resume her normal day-to-day activities in between breast brachytherapy treatment.

Easy and Efficient in APBI Breast Cancer Treatment
Thanks to a number of special features, this proprietary breast catheter system offers ease of use for the oncologist and efficiency for the oncology department. The ability to remove the ProGuide Needle between breast cancer treatments reduces the chance of catheter bending or kinking. Both buttons and treatment catheters are pre-numbered for accurate and easy setup, and allow for quick connection and disconnection to the microSelectron Digital afterloader. Additionaly the standardized catheter length makes QA during breast brachytherapy treatment simple and fast.

Seamless Intergration in Brachytherapy Treatment
The OncoSmart Catheter System works seamlessly with Nucletron’s templates for interstitial breast brachytherapy, such as the CT/MR compatible Kuske Breast Template Set. Additional CT markers with a fixed length are available for easy artifact-free CT-imaging of the implant. Combined with the capabilities of Oncentra Brachy, the OncoSmart Catheter System allows for interstitial breast brachytherapy with unlimited optimization, surrounding structure preservation and target determination capabilities.

The OncoSmart Catheter System can also be used for brachytherapy treatment of the Head and Neck, Tongue and Sarcomas.
