Uppsala (December 15, 2009) —On December 4, Nucletron released their new version of their Oncentra® treatment planning solution for clinical use. Oncentra® version 3.3 now includes state-of-the-art functionality including planning for volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT) and model based segmentation (MBS) tools.
Oncentra version 3.3 is the second release this year for Nucletron’s Oncentra treatment planning solution suite, also known as the Oncentra Dynamic Planning Environment. Version 3.3 includes numerous improvements as well as new modules for VMAT planning and for model based segmentation.
Oncentra® VMAT is an independent planning solution for volumetric-modulated arc therapy that can be used with the leading linear accelerators on the market. Available as a module within Oncentra version 3.3 Dynamic Planning Environment, the new planning option can be used with any VMAT-capable delivery system on the market, and offers the most flexible as well as the fastest VMAT planning tools available.
Oncentra® MBS is a tool that speeds up the process of organ and target contouring. From a library of pre-defined 3D organ models, the physician just needs to simply drag and drop anatomical templates onto the patient image data. Oncentra MBS software then automatically adapts the shape to fit the patient’s organs. This reduces the time it takes to manually draw contours. Oncentra MBS provides highly advanced organ delineation tools to support both brachytherapy and external beam planning. The result is consistent contours in dramatically reduced time.
“We are pleased to be able to provide such an exciting release within the timeframe we communicated to our customers and including the much desired and anticipated module for volumetric modulated arc planning. Being able to provide a leading solution for VMAT planning in collaboration with our development partner, RaySearch, in such a short timeframe, clearly illustrates the flexibility of the Oncentra platform and the spirit of our development team” says John Lapre, vice president of Research & Development for Nucletron.
